I am messy. This is putting it politely. My standard of living is not at the cockroaches and mice end of the scale, but I am, nevertheless, messy. I actually hate it, and it is based entirely in laziness. As I am moving soon, I am full of good intentions to be less messy. My room will be smaller, but to balance that out, the actual location, the flat itself, will be much nicer. It’s a compromise. But I don’t want to live like this anymore, it’s depressing, it’s distracting, and it’s not actually nice to come home at the end of a long day to a desk covered in rubbish, a chair covered in clothes, and the realisation that in order to cook you must first do the dishes.
I have therefore resolved that when I move I am taking nothing with me that does not pass the William Morris test (that you should not own anything unless you know it to be useful or believe it to be beautiful). What does go, needs to be organised. Especially the enormous number of papers I have.
By this time next week, I will have moved, and I hope that I will only have things that I want and love. Excuse me while I go and fill a bin bag…
(As an addendum: I have now finished the Regia Socks of Doom aka Happy Feet socks. I would give them their own post, except that my camera is not currently co-operating. I am wearing said socks, and my feet are cosy. Maybe even happy. When my camera and my computer are friends again, I will tell you more.)

Will you be leaving M, or will we still be able to have a knitty meet up?

I just moved, myself, and went through the same sort of situation. I would say I’m organized, but I decided I had too much clutter! I threw away MANY garbage bags full of junk.

Susan, no I’m staying here, it’s just that my current lease is up, and so I have to move! It must be about time for another knitty meet up, although not for a few weeks, at least, I have no time!
