Knitting!

Apologies for the long periods of silence, lately. Things have been very busy on the PhD front, as I prepared for my annual review, and although knitting has occured, there has not been time to report on it!

Last night I finished a pair of socks. They were made with the Rowan 4-ply Soft my Secret Pal sent me, and they are beautiful. They are from Sensational Knitted Socks, and are a stitch called Waterfall Rib. I love them very much! I will try to get some pictures, as I’m terribly proud of them!

My next project will be a pair of Fetchings. I decided I needed some fingerless gloves to keep me warm in my office of great chilliness, and just happened to have two balls of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran hanging around. It just seemed fated! I think I will probably make the wrist parts a little longer and narrower than recommended though. The former because I’d prefer it, and the latter because I have skinny wrists. My wrist circumferance is 6 inches, and the pattern is for gloves with 7 inch unstretched wrists! I fear they would simply be too big. So I will, I think, use some smaller needles for that (mainly because I can’t face figuring out the maths to do it any other way).

I also plan, when my financial situation allows it, to make myself a Tangled Yoke cardigan (from the latest Interweave Knits). I am very excited about this, largely because of the horizontal cable!

  • Hopefully the review went well.

The tangled yoke cardigan looks gorgeous. A friend at my knitting group is doing one, and the rib is pretty (she isn’t up to the yoke yet).

  • Oh I’ve got that edition of Interweave Knits, and the cardigan looks fascinating.

A friend is sending me some yarn and stuff from Knit Picks in the next few weeks, and it has a cable jumper and yarn for hubby.

Cables seem to be popular at the moment and they always look so good.
