At the moment I am mainly waiting. I am waiting for the yarn to arrive, which I have ordered from Angel Yarns for my Tangled Yoke cardigan. I am busy being frustrated about its non appearance, and the lack of communication I’ve had from AY. I really just wish I had ordered the yarn from someone else and paid the extra £10, but you live and learn. I am also waiting for my Mum’s ankles to de-swell sufficiently that I can measure her for a pair of socks that will actually fit! I am waiting to be brave enough to attempt to shorten the sleeves of my jumper. I only have the vaguest idea of how to even begin to do this, but it’s definitely necessary. It’s fine for sitting around on the sofa, but actually running around and doing things, the sleeves are just really irritating, and basically, plain too long. I am also waiting for (lesser) bravery to rip out the beginning of my Dad’s Christmas socks and start again. They’re too small. I suspected they were, but now it’s been confirmed. At least there are still eight weeks until Christmas.
I am very excited about getting to start my Tangled Yoke cardigan. It’s the horizontal cable that does it. Having seen the preview for the next Interweave, though, I do wish this yarn would just hurry up and arrive, as there are definitely other things there I want to make!
In the meantime, I am making a very simple pair of socks for myself. They are made of some Regia self-striping yarn, in a very nice blue and brown colourway. They are 1×1 rib in the cuff and 2×2 down the leg and the top of the foot. I’m just turning the heel on the second sock, so the end is in sight there! They’re going rather well as I have finally confessed to myself that I should make my heel flaps longer than sock patterns suggest, and that my feet are longer than I think. This is leading to much better fitting socks!
