Knitting News

There hasn’t been a great deal to report, knitting wise, in the last week or so, as I have been very busy! However, there are a few little things:

1. I now have the yarn for the Tangled Yoke cardigan. It took long enough, and I had to cancel an order with one shop, who sat on the order for weeks, and had no idea when they’d be able to provide the yarn, and placed the same order with another who dispatched the yarn the next day. I think I know which company I will  use in future. I’ve made gauge swatches, and they are currently drying at home. If all is well with them, I can start knitting soon, and I’m very excited about this! I’m surprised by how much I like garter rib!

2. My tealy baby-cable socks are becoming a little annoying. I followed the instructions for the heel flap in Sensational Knitted Socks for four stitch patterns, and while it looked rather pretty, I found that there was no way I could pick up stitches in a way that satisfied me. As a result, I ripped out the heel flap, and am re-knitting it in a way that I know will provide me with a hole-free heel and gusset.

 3. I have been given the gift of yarn! My friend, Christina, gave me, by way of birthday present some sock yarn that she had dyed for me! It’s a lovely bluey-green, and I’m rather excited about knitting my birthday socks! She also gave me a sheep tape measure, which is terribly cool!
