Competition

Sorry, I’m a little late with this, but I was away at the weekend and have been really busy the last day or two. Now, however, I can update on this.
Thanks for all the comments, I was really pleased to hear from so many people! I don’t want anyone to feel like they have to [...]

Instant Gratification

I am not a person who looks for instant gratification in life. I expect to have to work (usually hard) for the things I want and for the things I want to achieve. I am suspicious of things that are too easy.
I am the same with knitting. Quick projects don’t feel like “real” projects. This [...]

Wicked

I am feeling very distracted today, so I am doing quite a lot more knitting than I would usually do during the day. But because I am feeling so distracted I am also not really in the mood for concentration. So I am working on the Wicked jumper. I am, quite frankly, ready for this [...]

My Pet Spinning Wheel

Sometimes spinning feels like owning a long haired cat. Not that my wheel scratches my sofa, purrs on my lap or brings me gifts of dead mice and/or birds. It does, however, leave fluff everywhere!
At the moment I am spinning some beautiful camel and silk fibre from Wingham Wool Work. It is gorgeously soft to [...]

For Christmas my Mum gave me a chocolatiere. This is basically a machine that melts chocolate for you and then maintains it at a consistent temperature, keeping it liquid. So you can have chocolate fondue, use it in baking of some kind, or make it into chocolates.
So far, I have had one go with this. [...]

Happy Birthday Blog!

This year I have continued the tradition of missing my blog’s birthday. I did a similar thing with my hundredth post last year. I’m not very organised! But I didn’t want to just ignore it/forget it again. I might write it in my diary for next year…or is that taking it too seriously?
As of the [...]

Knitting Update

I haven’t written about my own knitting for a while, so I think it is time for an update.
I have three active projects: Primavera Socks, Wicked Jumper, and my Handspun Scarf. I’m definitely progressing on the socks, and thank goodness because the amusement in having green fingers is decreasing rapidly! I am just working on [...]

My Favourite Things: Comics

I have an ever growing thing for webcomics. I have three particular favourites, although I read others. I like each one for different reasons, but I like them all because they’re amusing.
PhD Comics, I like for the obvious reason that it is about people doing PhDs and I can relate to that. Mostly. Since I’m [...]

On Being Out of Fashion

I was very excited to learn (and I acknowledge that I am slightly behind the times on this) that Ashford have brought out a new flyer for their spinning wheels. These new flyers are available for both single and double drive wheels, and in both standard and jumbo size. They have a sliding hook to [...]
