Folks, it’s been a while. I have struggled to think what to write about, and so I am going to do something I have hardly ever done on this blog. I am going to write about me.
The knitting is very slow these days. I’ve even stopped going to knitting groups. I miss seeing the people, [...]

Stats
One of the things I like best about WordPress is that it gives me stats without my really needing to do anything. I could do it myself (and have done in the past), but I’m not that fussed about it, so am happy to take the easy option!
I like knowing how many people come to [...]

Chocolate
For Christmas my Mum gave me a chocolatiere. This is basically a machine that melts chocolate for you and then maintains it at a consistent temperature, keeping it liquid. So you can have chocolate fondue, use it in baking of some kind, or make it into chocolates.
So far, I have had one go with this. [...]

Happy Birthday Blog!
This year I have continued the tradition of missing my blog’s birthday. I did a similar thing with my hundredth post last year. I’m not very organised! But I didn’t want to just ignore it/forget it again. I might write it in my diary for next year…or is that taking it too seriously?
As of the [...]

My Favourite Things: Comics
I have an ever growing thing for webcomics. I have three particular favourites, although I read others. I like each one for different reasons, but I like them all because they’re amusing.
PhD Comics, I like for the obvious reason that it is about people doing PhDs and I can relate to that. Mostly. Since I’m [...]

UK Swap Questionnaire
Handmade Item Swap
What kind of items are you interested in receiving? Almost anything — gloves, mittens, handwarmers, scarves, shawls, socks… I’m less interested in hats because I just recently knitted myself one, and my hot water bottles already have covers.
Do you knit, crochet, or both? I only knit…one day I’ll learn to crochet, but it [...]

Question of the Day
Today I am wondering: Why don’t more yarn shops allow you to search for yarns by weight and (although this is less important) colour? I am looking for aran weight green yarn. I don’t care what brand, I don’t even really care what sort of fibre, except that it should be as basic as possible. [...]

Windfall
When I was a little girl I read a lot of quite old fashioned books. Actually, I still do. One of the nice things about quite old fashioned books is the words you find. Either words that simply aren’t used anymore, or have changed in usage or meaning.
For me, windfall is one of these words. Windfall, used [...]

Catherine, and Other Things
Here is a picture of where my Catherine socks are at the moment. I really love this pattern, although my rounds 3&7 problems are very irritating.
To be honest I’m not sure that this photo does either the yarn or the pattern justice, but it is the best I have so far!
In other news…I am swatching [...]

The Queen of Geekdom
There are some things I get far more excited about than is strictly necessary, and about which I have a slight tendency to be a little geeky. You can see some of them by my banner picture: fountain pens, Hebrew, knitting, and perfume. Books, film soundtracks, spinning, and tea are not very well represented above, but you still get [...]
